  Creator:   Chapman, Cecil W.
  Dates:   1944-1945
  Contents:
The collection consists of letters from Cecil W. Chapman mainly to his wife, Claudia W. Chapman with some to his daughter Suzanne, from 1944-1945. Written during World War II, Chapman describes his voyage to Great Britain including descriptions of the ship and life on board, life in England, the countryside, and people he meets. His letters from Europe were written mainly from Belgium and Germany with a few from France in which, due to censorship restrictions, mainly discuss the weather and the problems it causes for troop movements, camp life, descriptions of the area, his administrative duties, other officers, and a little on battle activities. Chapman was wounded in April 1945 and his last letters, written through May, describe his wounds, recovery, and hospital life in England.
